REUTERS: MILAN, July 28- QatarEnergy has notified Edison (EDNn.MI), one of its biggest European customers, that it will not be able to deliver three liquefied natural ‌gas (LNG) cargoes, extending 'force majeure' until the end of September, the Italian utility said on Tuesday.

- A total of 24 LNG cargoes are now subject to force majeure over this period, representing a total ⁠volume of approximately 3 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

- Edison confirmed its capability to source alternative gas for all its customers and fully honor its commercial commitments.

- As of July 28, Edison reported the replacement of 17 LNG cargoes at the Adriatic LNG terminal, representing a volume of approximately 1.6 billion cubic meters ‌of ⁠natural gas.

- Edison, a unit of French energy group EDF, holds a long-term contract with QatarEnergy for the supply of 6.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year to ⁠Italy.

- The contract, which has been in force since 2009, has a total duration of 25 years.

- Edison's first-quarter operating profit halved ⁠mainly due to the negative effect of the force majeure declared by QatarEnergy.

- The group also trimmed its ⁠full-year guidance as a consequence of the uncertainty over the conflict in the Middle East.
