Karim Benzema turned out to be the star of the game.
Real Madrid has progressed into the Champions League quarterfinals.
Real Madrid recorded a 1-0 win against Liverpool at home which gave them a 6-2 triumph on aggregate.
French football player Karim Benzema, once again became the matchwinner for his team as they beat Liverpool 1-0 on Wednesday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With Karim Benzema’s goal, the team secured a 6-2 aggregate triumph in the game. As per Football Espana, the player netted the only goal of the match after 79 minutes.
Now, Real Madrid has knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League. This will be the third consecutive season, the team has done so, including beating them in last year’s finals.
The 35-year-old striker has now scored a total of seven times more than any other player in the Champions League against Liverpool.
Vinicius Jr played real Madrid’s captain after the Brazilian had mistimed a shot. The former French international proved to be the difference in a match of few chances.
As per the news outlet, Benzema spoke after the match and admitted that it was a tough game. The player also explained his injury which made Carlo Ancelotti taking him off from the game in the later stages.
It was also revealed that Benzema’s injury is not too bad, and the player should be available for Real Madrid’s crucial El Clasico fixture at Camp Nou.
The champions will return to action on Saturday against Barcelona in a big Clasico clash in La Liga. Whereas, Liverpool is set to face Manchester City on April 1, 2023, after the international break.
