Robots creating furniture from plastic waste among ABB's offerings for Dubai Expo

The Dubai Expo 2020 is set to be one of the biggest tech events to be organised in a world recovering from the blow dealt by a pandemic, and innovators are rushing to the UAE from all parts of the world. Pavilions to showcase future-ready products and services have been set up by multiple nations including India, Britain and Italy, with inventions that focus on sustainability and healthtech in the post-covid world.

Satellites that promise to communicate with extraterrestrial beings in years to come, and a 3D printed replica of the iconic sculpture David are just few of the thrilling achievements of tech on display. With millions making their way to the Expo, global tech giant ABB will use the Swedish pavilion as a stage for its services aimed at empowering sustainable growth.

In an age when plastic waste is a major cause for environmental pollution, the firm will be introducing tech enthusiasts to a robot that turns trash into furniture. The firm will also flaunt its capability to automate mining ops using smart tech, in order to increase efficiency for making the industry more eco-friendly.

ABB will also highlight how it converted Vasteras, an urban area in Sweden, into a smart city by assembling an intelligent control room. The system currently handles functioning of a hydro power plant and a cooling facility, along with a waste-to-energy unit in the city.

The company has also built world's tallest wooden buildings to put the spotlight on sustainable living, and will inform visitors about research into new materials for the future of construction.

ABB may be launching these products in the UAE for the first time, but it has been supporting tech-savvy growth in the country for a while. The firm has facilitated electrification of the colossal Burj Khalifa in Dubai and had also assisted in assembling the world's first fully functioning office built using 3D printing tech.
