Mashable: The coverage starts from the day of entering the Kingdom

Saudi Arabia recently announced the reduction of comprehensive health insurance costs for Hajj and Umrah overseas pilgrims.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah recently concluded Hajj Expo 2023 and announced various new measures to facilitate more pilgrimage.

During the Hajj Expo 2023, the Kingdom announced the reduction of the comprehensive insurance cost for Umrah performers coming from abroad.

As per Khaleej Times, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reduced the insurance cost for pilgrims coming from outside the kingdom from SR235 (Dh229.79) to SR87 (Dh85).

Starting from January 10, 2023, the insurance cost for overseas pilgrims was reduced to 63 percent.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has said that the insurance coverage period is for 90 days and its starts from the day the pilgrim enters the Kingdom. However, the insurance coverage is valid only within the country.

The Ministry has taken an initiative to implement a unified and comprehensive health insurance program that covers emergencies such as personal accidents resulting in death or permanent total disability, hospitalization for various ailments, traffic accident injuries, and childbirth for overseas pilgrims.

The program also covers transportation of the bodies of a deceased to their countries if demanded by the relatives.

Earlier, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah also announced that those pilgrims who have obtained tourist and commercial visas would now be allowed to perform the Umrah pilgrimage during their stay in the Kingdom.

This system will allow people to obtain a tourist visa which will be valid for 12 months upon their arrival at one of the Saudi airports and without the need for a prior application. The visa holders will have the perks of visiting the cities and regions all over Saudi Arabia.
