Saudi Arabia has taken a step towards preserving the environment and wants to promote conservation in the region. Thus, Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and National Center for Wildlife Development have come together to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to construct two new nature-related facilities and promote conservation.

The MoU includes the development of a wildlife reserve in Wadi Safar and a centre at Wadi Hanifa for visitors to learn about nature. The projects will be built in line with local and international standards.

The memorandum also includes the launch of special programs related to wildlife and various biodiversity regulations in the Kingdom.

The coming together of the DGDA and National Center for Wildlife Development will be a step towards the conservation of wildlife and habitats in the Kingdom.

Through this, the centre aims to promote scientific research related to biodiversity and the discovery of sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.

While much of the details regarding the wildlife reserves haven’t been revealed, the first phase of the development project would include the restoration of more than two square kilometres of Wadi Hanifa, including palm groves, farms, sidewalks, hiking trails, and parks. This will make the valley an open space for visitors.

The Diriyah Gate Development Authority with its international environmental standards in projects related to heritage, tourism, hotels and cultural centres, and adopting green designs derived from traditional Najdi architecture, is going to make the project the best Saudi Arabia can include.
