The event will take place on February 16 and is taking place in collaboration with the Saudi Fashion Commission.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been seeing a steady rise in the contribution to the world of fashion along with emerging fashion designers. To uplift the local fashion industry on a global platform, Saudi Arabia’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is hosting an exclusive fashion show.
The event which will take place on February 16 is taking place in collaboration with the Saudi Fashion Commission and is set to feature homegrown fashion labels including Arwa Al-Banawi, Tima Abid and Abadia wherein each brand will showcase 10 pieces from their most recent collections.
The label Al-Banawi with its most creative designs blends traditional tailoring with contemporary perspectives. With her studios in Jeddah and Dubai, the label brings together eastern and western influences and will showcase the same at the Expo.
The 18-year-old brand Tima Abid Haute Couture has been a womenswear favourite for years. The Jeddah-born couturiere has worked internationally having dressed some of the region’s top celebrities, including Assala Nasri and Balqees Fathi.
The Dubai-based Saudi label Abadia refers to itself as ‘ethical luxury’ co-founded by Shahd Al-Shehail and her aunt, Naeema Al-Shehail. The family-owned brand supports Saudi women artisans by incorporating traditional crafts from the region such as Sadu (a weaving technique) and Naqda (a technique of pulling thin metallic threads through cloth) in their designs and aims towards women empowerment.
