Saudi Arabia welcomed a whopping 13.5 million pilgrims for Umrah in 2023

Mashable: Al-Rabiah stated that the surge in pilgrims for 2023 is estimated at five million, marking a 58 percent increase from 2019.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, proudly announced a historic milestone at the Haj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition in Jeddah. The year 2023 witnessed a record-breaking influx of Umrah pilgrims from abroad, totaling an astounding 13.55 million.

Al-Rabiah highlighted the remarkable increase, estimating a surge of five million pilgrims, equivalent to a staggering 58% rise compared to 2019 figures. The minister credited this monumental achievement to the meticulous facilities and arrangements orchestrated by the Saudi government, emphasizing that the 13.55 million mark is the largest in the history of Umrah pilgrims from outside the Kingdom.

Previously, the highest number of Umrah pilgrims from abroad was recorded in 2019, standing at 8.55 million. Fast forward to 2023, the surge to 13.55 million signifies a remarkable leap, reflecting the Kingdom's dedication to facilitating the sacred journey for devotees worldwide.

In the preceding year, 2022, a total of 24,715,307 pilgrims performed Umrah, with 9,517,829 undertaking the pilgrimage once during the year. The count of pilgrims from abroad who participated in Umrah reached an impressive 8,372,429.

As the Kingdom continues to attract a growing number of faithful pilgrims, the 2023 Umrah season stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to providing a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for visitors from across the globe.
