Taking place at the pavilion until January 29, the Coffee Week is part of an initiative that has designated 2022 as ‘The Year of Saudi Coffee.’

For decades, coffee has been a symbol of rich heritage and a sign of welcoming hospitality for Saudi Arabia and to showcase the same, the kingdom recently launched the ‘Year of Saudi Coffee’.

The same hospitality has been brought to the Expo 2020 Dubai as the Saudi Arabian pavilion launches a five-day event Saudi Coffee Week to celebrate the country’s coffee culture.

Taking place at the pavilion until January 29, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Coffee Week is part of an initiative that has designated 2022 as ‘The Year of Saudi Coffee.’

Known as Al-Gahwa in the region – the beverage is a symbol of hospitality in Saudi Arabia, traditionally served with dates or other sweets. Coffee beans are cultivated in the mountainous Jazan region, dubbed the Kingdom’s “coffee epicentre”.

The event week will feature several activities to inspire and educate visitors on the Kingdom’s coffee traditions that form an essential part of its culture. Visitors will be educated on activities including coffee-making and brewing techniques, as well as delicious tasting experiences.

The pavilion also features booths from Peru, Ethiopia, Colombia, Honduras, Panama, Australia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia itself, that greet visitors at the pavilion’s Open Square, presenting the best flavours each country has to offer, including a sample of their brews.

The event will also host two workshops at Sard Café wherein visitors can learn the art of making Saudi Gahwa and indulge in specially-curated menu items that include Gahwa Affogato and the Gahwa Half Pint.
