Mashable: In under 10 days, this is the second time that such a rare event has been sighted in the UAE.
A mini dust devil rose up to the clouds in Sharjah as changeable autumn conditions continue in the Emirates.
A mini tornado was also sighted last week.
A small tornado has been captured on camera in rural Sharjah. Even other parts of the United Arab Emirates saw heavy rainfalls and hail.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) shared a video on its official Twitter account. The video showed a whirlwind of dust raising in the sky and making a funnel-like shape in the Madam area.
This is the second such sighting of the rare event in under 10 days. However, such weather-related formations are very rare in the United Arab Emirates. It was just last week, some residents recorded what looked like a mini tornado rising above the ground.
On Thursday, the authorities also shared some other videos that showed heavy rains and hail in some areas of the Emirate.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), has issued an alert via Twitter writing, “Precautions should be taken in case of strong cloud activity associated with heavy rain and strong downward wind.”
The authority has also advised the residents to stay away from areas that are prone to flash floods, landslides, and valleys.
Another video shared by the NCM showed vehicles crossing the water-logged street in the Al Madam area. The authority also reported icy rains in Sharjah’s Al Badayer area.
UAE’s weather-related handle, Storm Centre on Twitter, had also shared a video of a resident holding ice pellets on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
