While Sharjah is known for its sandy topography, the majority of the land is devoid of greenery. However, despite its terrain, authorities in Sharjah have been striving to make the region a green haven.
Taking a step towards sustainability, more green pockets have been bloomed in Sharjah, thanks to the authorities in the Emirate. With a step forward, they have added 58,000 square metres of green spaces at the American University of Sharjah and Police Science Academy.
To greenify the region, around 24,000 seasonal flowers, 5,000 flowering trees and 300 palm trees were planted over 2,600 square metres. The initiative has been eventuated in response to directives issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
