Sharjah’s House of Wisdom exhibits artist Gibran Khalil Gibran’s works

World-renowned artist Gibran Khalil Gibran’s works are known to every literature enthusiast and to feature some of his works, Sharjah’s House of Wisdom has dedicated an exhibition to the renowned Lebanese poet.

The exhibition, titled, ‘A Window to the Soul: Gibran Khalil Gibran’ was inaugurated by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, the show, on Sunday.

The exhibition that celebrates the artist’s practice showcases 34 of his original works at the exhibition.

The exhibition which is taking place in collaboration with Gibran National Committee and the Gibran Museum has been sponsored by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by the Barjeel Art Foundation.

 

Gibran Khalil Gibran, commonly known as Kahlil Gibran, moved to the United States with his family at an early age. He was born during the Ottoman Empire in 1883 and began showcasing his works during 1904, along with practicing his literary interests that led to the publication of his first book in Arabic in 1905.

The exhibition, which is on display till January 6, has been divided into thematic categories like A Window, Connections—Roots and Branches, Formation, Study—Faces, Medium—Red Chalk, Method—Perspective, and The Soul.

Some of the artists’ works made in oil and gauche, and watercolour as well as his charcoal sketches are on display. There are also several of Gibran’s personal belongings on display, including four manuscript notebooks, a watercolour set, and an easel. The galley proof and plate proof of his most well-known book, The Prophet, are also on view.
