It turns out a woman feared missing by her family was just away filming for American dating show The Bachelor.

Rebekah Martinez of Fresno, California was allegedly first reported missing on 18 November last year by her mother, according to North Coast Journal.

It all came to light after the North Coast Journal shared a missing persons story to Facebook. To one user, one of the 35 people listed as missing by Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office seemed oddly familiar.

The observant reader then got in touch with the Sheriff's office and said they had spotted Ms Martinez on the reality show.

An officer then reached out to government public information officer, Samantha Karges, who carried out some queries. She replied a few minutes later saying she had just got off the phone with Ms Martinez.

Ms Karges added:

Martinez had reportedly come to Humboldt County to work on a marijuana farm. Her mother hadn’t heard from her since Nov. 12, 2017

The 22-year-old since responded to the ordeal on Twitter:

The Bachelor follows a single man as he dates about 25 women for the duration of the show. In the end, he must choose one and it typically ends with a marriage proposal. All candidates live together in a mansion and you can just imagine the drama.

Ms Martinez, who lists her occupation as a 'nanny' on shows website, has been a fan favourite on the show.

Humboldt County Sheriffs' Office later confirmed the reality star has been removed from the missing persons list.
