Tech events being organised in the UAE, along with art exhibitions, have created a platform for innovators, creative minds and entrepreneurs to show off their digital solutions in front of a global audience. Emirati cities like Dubai are also shining examples of how to use virtual tools to boost tourism, with apps that guide people to heritage sites, as well as VR games that highlight landmarks and hidden gems.
Shortly after the Middle East's digital hub was hailed for integrating tech into public services for everyday life, Dubai has opened doors for visitors to explore Expo 2020 after waiting for a year. Among countries that chose an artistic path to highlight their natural wealth through the use of innovative technology, Slovenia has decided to place its bets on digital crypto tokens, to provide a glimpse into its breathtaking landscape.
The European country has turned 3D pictures with a panoramic view of its natural beauty, into non-fungible tokens based on blockchain tech. This turns the pictures into digital art which can be unlocked using an eight digit code so that Slovenia can flaunt both it's tourist attractions as well as tech prowess in a single move.
But it isn't just about the virtual assets that are on offer, accessing them also opens up an online wallet for visitors, who can use it for transactions secured via blockchain. The virtual gift cards are also meant to reflect Slovenia's ambition to capitalise on investment in the emerging NFT sector.
The rise of crypto tokens has not just helped entrepreneurs and investors, but has also unlocked new avenues for artists to market their work beyond borders. Being secured using a blockchain, further makes these assets a safe way to trade art as well as property.
Apart from Slovenia, Saudi Arabia has also used the Expo to highlight its heritage sites, while Poland has unveiled a digital table that puts the spotlight on its diverse terrain.
