Snapchat has removed Al Jazeera content from its platform in Saudi Arabia, GMR can reveal.
On May 23 this year, Al Jazeera Media Network had announced the launch of its daily channel on Snapchat’s Discover which the network saw as one of the key mediums for its dedicated Arabic content aimed at engaging and inspiring a generation of empowered and conscious Arab youth.
That time Dr. Mostefa Souag, Acting Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network, had stated: “By partnering with Snapchat to push storytelling forward, Al Jazeera continues to work towards informing and empowering our younger audience in the Middle East, North Africa and beyond, through various new and innovative platforms.”
“We are committed to creating the best possible experience for our community while abiding with local laws of the countries that we operate in,” a Snap spokesperson told GMR.
