As part of this new model, pets are adopted digitally and NFT holders are responsible for the pet's upkeep through monthly payments.
The Stray Dogs Centre UAE will be the first non-profit in the Middle East to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs) when they do so next week.
NFTs are one-of-a-kind digital assets that are linked to the blockchain, a digital database, and can be used to represent art, graphics, music, videos, or images. NFTs that benefit both humans and animals are the most recent addition. As part of this new model, pets are adopted digitally and NFT holders are responsible for the pet's upkeep through monthly payments.
According to a report by The Khaleej Times, majority of the funds will be used for animal rescue, with the remainder reserved for airdrops or gifts to NFT holders.
"We are the first company in the Middle East to directly own and distribute NFTs. Stray Dogs Centre, the world's fourth-largest animal rescue organization, will release its own NFT at 12 a.m. on March 12. The Mint link will be distributed via Twitter. All NFT communications are conducted via Twitter, as our other platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, are reserved for daily updates and/or emergency announcements, according to Shraddha Chaurasia, head of marketing at Stray Dogs Centre in the United Arab Emirates.
There will be 150 doggos UAE NFTs rescued by Chaurasia that will be launched on the Solana blockchain in the first of three phases.
US-based Pawtocol and Costa Rican animal rescues launched pet profiles as NFTs to sell in the NFT Marketplace to raise funds for virtual adoption in March 2021.
Currently, NFTs are most popular in the arts and music, but other industries such as sports are rapidly expanding. A Deloitte study estimates that the global sports NFT market will transact over $2 billion by 2022.
Additionally, she explained that the initial launch of NFTs is limited to 150 and that one NFT holder will be randomly chosen each month to receive a free airdrop (a gift in the form of NFT). Noting that the NFTs will be launched on Solana rather than Ethereum, as Ethereum would be prohibitively expensive for supporters. By making NFTs available on Solana, they hope to make it as simple as possible for anyone to own and use them. Their NFTs can be purchased exclusively through a Solana wallet.
Consequently, there will be two additional launches following the initial one. Whoever wishes to gain an advantage in our third and final launch should collect at least one from each of our previous two. They are attempting to ensure that the community of 150 people who attended the inaugural launch supports them in return.
According to Stray Dogs Centre's marketing director, the majority of dog-related NFTs are based on pure breed dogs.
