Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, chairman of Sharjah Media Center received from Ahmed Abu Al Ghad Secretary General of the League of the Arab States award of the most prominent media figure of 2016.Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed received the award in Cairo Mondial for Arts and Media, Festival, the award gave to Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed because of his role in spreading the media on the Emirates, Arab and International levels, and for his role of upgrading the media in Sharjah,  and that make Sharjah the capital of the media for 2016.

The selection of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed came because of his great offers and support to media in all fields, written, audible and visible. The media award of 2016 given to Sheikh Ahmed according to the criteria of the award, and because of the great success of the Sharjah Media Corporation and Sharjah Media Center as they are the two arms of Sharjah Emirate in media field.
 
The two media institutes in Sharjah under the leadership of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi accompanied Sharjah development events in all time, and that is by the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohamad Al Qasimi member of the supreme council and Ruler of Sharjah. 

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed made great efforts during the last years and still he is doing the same to develop the media by the new methods to serve the society.

The award of 2016  came to honor the role of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed in his non-stop support of the media and his role in  pushing  the media in Sharjah to the international level , and as a chairman of the biggest two media institutes in Sharjah  including radio and TV ,Sharjah TV channel, Al Sharqia TV channel in Kalba And the middle Channel in Al Dhaid including Sharjah 24, Arabic and English.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed included his media jobs he is also vice chairman of Petroleum council , head of the board of directors of pipelines of Sharjah, he is  also chairman  of group of companies and (Basma) group and member of executive council of Sharjah Emirate.
