The Swedish Pavilion recently broke the Guinness World Record at the Expo 2020 for creating the world’s ‘longest cinnamon bun train.’

Amidst all the records that Dubai has to its name, the recently opened Expo 2020 has another interesting and tasty world record now and this time, it is the Swedish Pavilion holding the record at the world fair.

The Swedish Pavilion recently broke the Guinness World Record at the Expo 2020 for creating the world’s ‘longest cinnamon bun train.’ The tasty world record was broken four days after the initial attempt that was postponed due to a tropical storm in the region.

The world record was made by the UAE’s popular cake shop—Mister Baker, who brought out the first batch of cinnamon buns that went on to make the record-breaking pastry train.

The achievement was unlocked Cinnamon Bun Day which falls on October 4. This is an annual theme day that celebrates the Swedish baking traditions of the ‘Kanelbulle.’

The team of Mister Baker worked tirelessly for hours to create the line of 1500 traditional Swedish cinnamon buns. These buns were made from about 6kg of butter, 11kg of sugar and 36kg of flour, placed in a spiral pattern on a large circular table.

The ingredients which were referred to as the ‘original gangsters of Swedish bakery’ by the chefs had to be made edible so, it was kept natural without the use of glue, tape, or sticks.

“To bake our way into the record books is a testament to the hard work, agility and dedication that you see every day in our 22 cake shops,” shared Tushar Fotedar, a director at Mister Baker, adding, “We are honoured to have been a part of this Guinness World Record at the greatest show on earth Expo 2020.”

The record at the expo was broken from the previous record for the largest cinnamon roll, which weighed 521.5kg and was baked in the US in 2018.

Once it was certified as a record, the rolls were also shared with the hundreds of Expo visitors in and outside the Swedish pavilion who celebrated the record.
