Zohran Mamdani recently made history as the eleventh mayor of New York City, securing a landmark victory that resonated across the United States and around the world.

Mamdani is NYC's first Muslim mayor and the first person of Indian origin to lead the iconic metropolis known as the Big Apple. In a decisive win, Zohran garnered over 50% of the vote, outperforming former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who received about 41%, while Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa trailed with roughly 7%. Following his victory, Zohran quoted former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in his address to supporters, saying, "A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance." In a video shared online, a local New York City store offered mamdani their version of Dubai Chocolate, which he happily accepted. As he savored the sweet treat, Zohran quipped, "This is the best part of running for mayor." He enjoyed lunch with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He captioned the post, "A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements, and meetings.
