The first of its kind transport solution for medical samples in the region, uses containers embedded with chips.
The sudden blow dealt by the pandemic has triggered a never before seen surge in medical research, as AI along with other innovative solutions, has been deployed to develop medication for future ailments preemptively. The rising demand for pharmaceuticals, immunity boosters and subsequently vaccines to win the battle against covid, has also highlighted the need for safer alternatives to transport components.
The need to move around research samples and ingredients for medicines, calls for storage and supply mechanisms where everything down to the temperature is carefully regulated. After successfully neutralising chances of an outbreak on multiple occasions throughout the pandemic via use of tech, Saudi Arabia is about to deploy innovation for tracking medical samples.
A regional firm Tibyana has entered an agreement to bring transportation systems monitored by radio waves to the Middle East, for added safety, efficiency and accuracy in the healthcare sector. The samples are transferred using containers which come embedded with high-tech RFID chips, that deploy electromagnetic waves for tracking the movement of the cargo.
The technology is also equipped to constantly keep an eye on the temperature and the time taken to move specimens from one point to another. It then goes on to take note of the date at which the sample is collected and the day that it reaches a lab, along with updates about the person responsible for safely carrying them to the facility.
Smart monitoring systems are being used for transportation of goods across the Middle East, from AI equipped Dhow boats in Dubai to self driving trucks on the port in Abu Dhabi.
As for medical research, scientists in the region are also using machine learning to gauge the effect of pharmaceuticals on patients to boost the quality of treatment. Smart devices are also being used for administering medicines with precision that can even eliminate cancer cells.
Movement of cargo is also observed using drones on highways, to ensure compliance with norms.
