It is time again that the fashionistas in the Arab region get ready as a new fashion week awaits the Middle East. One of the grand fashion events of the region, the Middle East Fashion Week has announced its dates and fashion lovers are excited as ever.
Middle East Fashion Week announced its inaugural edition in a statement on Sunday and said that the event is scheduled to take place from May 14 to 19 at Dubai’s Atlantis The Palm.
This time, however, there would be a twist to the fashion week. Unlike the traditional fashion week, the Middle East Fashion Week is embracing a unique schedule wherein there will be a three-day sustainable fashion forum featuring high-profile international speakers. This will be followed by 25 in-person fashion shows featuring international and regional designers, a gala dinner, charity auction and a variety of other VIP events.
Talking about the Fashion Week, CEO of Middle East Fashion Council Simon J Lo Gatto, in a released statement said, “Middle Eastern Fashion Week has been created as a platform to allow designers to come together with a unique opportunity to showcase in Dubai and to reach audiences not only across the GCC but also the larger Indian subcontinent and Europe.”
“Our goal is for the Middle East Fashion Week to become a biannual Fashion Week that acts as a reference point for designers from all corners of the world. Since its inception in 2020, MEFC has positioned itself as the world’s first fashion council with sustainability as its core value and long-term objective. The platform was born from an inspiration to tackle climate change and pollution brought on as a direct result of the industry we love,” he further added.
While the dates of the event have been announced, the participating designers have yet to be revealed.
