The fourth edition of the festival organised by the Saudi Falconry Club, is taking place in Malham, north of Riyadh.

The much-awaited festival for falcon lovers in Saudi Arabia—the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival has finally kick-started in the Kingdom on November 28, which will go on till December 16, 2021.

The fourth edition of the festival organised by the Saudi Falconry Club is taking place in Malham, north of Riyadh, with the participation of a group of Saudi and international falconers.

Like the other years, this year, too, the festival is expected to witness the participation of a group of falcon owners in the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council, in the land area of the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival.

With various events and competitions lined up, the festival has allocated more than SR25 million ($6.66 million) for winners.

The largest one of a kind in the world, day one of the festival opened with the qualifying runs for Saudi falconers. It started with the Shaheen Farkh category of Saudi owners, with strong competition for a place in the final rounds for the King Abdulaziz Cup.

 

In the forthcoming days, there will be runs for international falconers in the categories of owners and professionals. The event will also see a competition to select the most beautiful falcons in seven rounds, two are allocated for the Farkh category and five are for the Qirnas category.

This festival comes within the framework of the eagerness of the wise leadership and its quest to preserve the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Kingdom and support it within its plans to achieve the vision of the Kingdom 2030.

Through the festival, the Kingdom aims to preserve the Saudi heritage of falconry and pass on the hobby to future generations, educate children about their history and values, and enhance the spirit of competition among falconers.
