One of the much-awaited visits of Saudi Arabia—Sultan Haitham, Oman’s ruler, took place on Sunday afternoon as he made his first official foreign visit.

As Sultan Haitham arrived at Neom airport, he was welcomed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman amidst an orchestra as the flags of both countries fluttered on the runway.

While the orchestra wasn’t the only musical that marked the arrival, a new song was released by Omani artistes to celebrate the bond between the two countries. The song ‘Usood Al Areen’ sung was Abdul Majeed Abdullah along with Omani counterpart Salah Zadjali to pay an ode to the strong relationship between both countries.

Written and composed by Omani duo songwriter Sayid Al Busaidi and poet Khamis Almuqeemi, the video song is produced by Egypt’s Walid Fayed. The video song —Usood Al Areen –which translates to the lions of the den, gives glimpses of some of the rich cultural and historical bonds shared by both countries. The video has been directed by Kuwaiti Ali Al Najjar.

With exuberant tempo and melodies both the musicians, Abdullah and Zadjali trade verses as they song begin with ‘Greets from the house of Haitham’ going on to, ‘To the house of gratitude, the house of (Saudi King) Salman, one of the great leaders.’

The lyrics of the song praise both the leaders and the song’s lyrics goes as ‘In the era of Salman and Al Haitham, the lions of the den, the beacon of light of their highnesses became brighter, richer and everlasting.’

The song is a melodic description of some of the characteristics of both nations. ‘The land of love and peace,’ the song describes Oman, while Saudi Arabia is delineated as ‘the land of determination’. The verses also describe ‘Muscat to Riyadh, our hearts from both sides, its address is trust, brotherhood and good neighbourliness’.

With the Sultan’s visit to the Saudi Kingdom, the song has been widely praised which also shows glimpses of Sultan Haitham and King Salman together from the past events. The video has been beautifully blended with images of Saudi Arabian attractions, such as Riyadh’s Kingdom Centre and the Red Sea city of Neom, as well as Oman’s Royal Opera House Muscat and the coastal region of Musandam.
