(Web Desk) - TikTok has confirmed experiments with allowing certain users to upload videos up to 60 minutes in length. In a bid to diversify its content offerings and further solidify its position in the competitive social media landscape.

This move marks a significant transfer from TikTok's origins as a platform primarily known for short, snappy content, signaling a broader trend towards longer-form video content.

The progression towards longer videos has been gradual. In January, TikTok provided select creators with access to 30-minute clips, followed by the recent extension allowing users to upload content up to 10 minutes long.

Creators who sell subscriptions have been granted access to upload videos as long as 20 minutes. This expansion aligns with TikTok's evolving monetization strategy, which now requires creators to share videos longer than a minute to qualify for the platform's monetization program.

The rise of TikTok as a dominant force in the social media landscape has prompted other major platforms such as Meta, YouTube, and even LinkedIn to integrate shortform video feeds into their platforms.

However, while others attempt to replicate the allure of TikTok's "For You" page, TikTok itself is pivoting towards longer, more YouTube-like content formats.
