Mashasble: Residents in Ras Al Khaimah will get a 50 percent discount on fines
The United Arab Emirates is giving leeway to its residents who have committed certain general offenses.
On the occasion of World Happiness Day, UAE residents will get a 50% discount on fines for general violations.
To recognize the significance of happiness and well-being, the United Nations General Assembly declared 20 March as the International Day of Happiness in July 2012.
As per Khaleej Times, for this occasion, the Ras Al Khaimah Public Service Department (RAKPSD) announced a 50% fine discount for a limited time period.
Residents can apply for the discount for three days starting from March 20 to March 22, 2023.
Ras Al Khaimah residents who have committed some general violations such as throwing trash in public areas, smoking in non-designated areas, littering, and toll-gate violations for trucks, among others can avail of a fifty percent discount on fines during this limited time span.
According to the news outlet, this scheme will only be applicable to offenses that fall under the Ras Al Khaimah Public Service Department, including the environmental violations.
The International Day of Happiness was celebrated by United Nations’ 193 member states for the first time in the year 2013. After two year, it created as many as seventeen Sustainable Development Goals which aims at reducing poverty and inequality. It also plans to protect the environment that ultimately lead to happiness.
The United Arab Emirates considers happiness and people’s well-being as a part of its national agenda.
The theme of this years International Day of Happiness is “Be Mindful, Be Grateful, Be Kind”.
