Mashable: The UAE prepares for Sultan Al Neyadi’s homecoming today
The “Sultan of Space” has shared an emotional video on the eve of his much-awaited homecoming.
The United Arab Emirates-based astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi recalled his historic space journey in a video as he prepares for his homecoming today.
The UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi who safely returned to Earth on September 4, 2023, has looked back at his 6-month space journey in an emotional video.
On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Emirati astronaut took to his official X account, formerly Twitter, and revealed some insights about the longest Arab space mission in history.
In the nine-minute video, astronaut Sultan AlNeyadi also talked about his journey back to Earth from the International Space Station for the first time ever.
In the long video, Dr. Al Neyadi called the space mission “the experience of a lifetime”. He talked about the six-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and his reentry to Earth along with his Crew-6 members.
The Arab astronaut also expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the United Arab Emirates including the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as well as the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for their support.
After completing the longest Arab space mission the 42-year-old astronaut is set to return to the UAE to a hero’s welcome on Monday, September 18, 2023.
The Dubai-based Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) announced that the first spacewalker from the region, Sultan Al Neyadi’s return to his beloved homeland will be live-streamed from 5.30 pm.
