Mashable: UAE-based Indian expat Yusuff Ali donates over Dh200,000; class reunion video goes viral
The businessman made the donation on the occasion of an alumni reunion
UAE-based businessman and Indian expat Yusuff Ali recently visited the Indian state of Kerala for a school reunion event.
The Indian businessman traveled to India to his alma mater, St. Xavier’s High School in Karanchira, Kerala.
According to Khaleej Times, the Indian businessman M. A. Yusuff Ali who is the chairman of United Arab Emirates-based Lulu Group arrived for the reunion event in a helicopter and received a huge red carpet welcome to his school.
During the event, Yusuff Ali also reunited with his classmates after 52 years and also made a huge donation to his alma mater. The Lulu Group chairman also had an emotional reunion with his former teachers as he returned to his school in Kerala.
M. A. Yusuff Ali who is also reportedly the richest Indian expat in the Emirates met with his friends at St. Xavier's High School almost 52 years after his graduation.
As per the news outlet, the 67-year-old made the donation on the occasion of an alumni reunion at his former school where he studied from class 8 to 10 during the 1970s.
The managing director of the Lulu group of companies arrived for the reunion event in his personal chopper and traveled to the school in his white Range Rover. When the business magnate arrived, he was first greeted by his teachers who presented him with a silk shawl.
Yusuff Ali also received warm applause upon his arrival and interacted with his former batchmates. The emotional reunion ended with them cutting a cake and taking selfies. Before leaving, he also made a huge donation of around Dh220,000 to his school fund.
Videos from his visit to his school are now doing rounds on the internet.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the businessman has returned to his alma mater. M. A. Yusuff also visited the school in 2021.
The Lulu Group is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and is known in the Middle East for its chain of shopping malls and hypermarkets.
