UAE: Education ministry adopts a new code of conduct for all professionals in the education sector

Mashable: The Ministry of Education has released a new code of conduct for educational institutions

Educational professionals have been asked to respect the religious, cultural, and ethnic diversity of the workplace across the Emirate.

 

The new rules will be applicable to every leader, teacher, administrator, and worker in the educational sector.

The UAE’s Ministry of Education has announced a new code of conduct for educational professionals which contains a set of principles and ethical values that are aimed toward the responsibility of educational staff.

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, the Ministry of Education approved the 10-point Code of Conduct for all professionals in the education sector.

Sharing the Code of Conduct on their official Twitter account, the Ministry of Education wrote, “#TheCodeofConduct for Education Professionals in General Education is a roadmap for every teacher, leader, administrator, and worker in the UAE’s”

The code aims at encouraging positive values in students and safeguarding them from being drawn to ideas that are unacceptable to Emirati society.

It also tells educational professionals to protect children from exploitation, bullying, neglect, and all forms of abuse.

On September 4, 2022, Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the Minister of Education tweeted, “The UAE government and people are proud of their educational cadres and are constantly keen on consolidating the values of the Emirati society in a way that enhances its cohesion and establishes a healthy and sound educational environment to raise our children as future leaders.”

The code of conduct tells professionals to avoid disclosing confidential information about the students and their families. It also asks to avoid spreading false news and rumors.

The workers in the general education sector must adhere to appropriate clothing respecting the traditions of the UAE.
