The UAE observes Flag Day every year on November 3, which falls on a Monday in 2025.
This day marks the anniversary of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who became the President of the UAE in 2004. In 2013, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, launched a national campaign to celebrate the UAE's heritage, achievements, and vision for the future — reminding citizens of the nation's unity and pride. Is it a holiday? While Flag Day is an important occasion to celebrate, it isn't a public holiday — so yes, work goes on as usual.
What happens on this day? The UAE flag is proudly displayed across the country — from government buildings and ministries to shopping malls, homes, and even cars. What do the colours of the UAE Flag represent? Red represents bravery, green represents hope, joy, and prosperity, white stands for peace and honesty, and black signifies the strength of mind and the defeat of enemies.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently took to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) to remind both UAE citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag on November 3 at 11 a.m. He described it as "an expression of the people's unity and their gathering around their flag, and as an embodiment of the values of union, belonging, and loyalty to the homeland and its leadership." "May the flag of the Emirates remain towering in glory... May the flag of the Emirates flutter in pride," he added. الإخوة والأخوات .
