December saw a drop in prices. Earlier, in August, September, and October, prices decreased for three consecutive months. But in line with the global surge, prices rose by 9% in November.
June marked the first month in which prices in the UAE exceeded Dh4. And in July, they reached a record high, with Super 98 costing Dhs4.63 a litre.
In 2015, the country liberalized its fuel pricing, bringing local rates into line with global oil prices.
The goal of the initiative is to increase residents' use of public transportation while also encouraging the use of alternative fuels.
For the past seven years, the fuel price committee has met monthly to announce revised rates.
