Mashable: Residents will have three more long weekends this year

If you are making travel plans for the year, this list of the upcoming UAE public holidays will be of much help.
The residents of the United Arab Emirates enjoyed the first long weekend of 2023 during the Eid Al Fitr celebrations in April. Now, based on the calculations, the residents have a total of eight public holidays left.
If you are keen to know when the next public holiday will fall, follow along.
The next public holiday is expected to fall on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, on the occasion of Arafat Day which falls on Dhul Hijjah 9 and is the first day of Eid al Adha.
Here’s how many long weekends are left for the UAE residents to enjoy.
The employees in the UAE will enjoy long breaks for Eid Al Adha, Hirji New Year, and Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday for the remainder of the year.
Eid Al Adha
The second and the longest public holiday break for the residents of the UAE is set to fall during Eid Al Adha celebrations.
As per the astronomical calculations, employees will get to enjoy the Eid Al Adha holiday break from the 9th to the 12th of Zul Hijjah which is the last month of the Islamic calendar and is based on the lunar system.
However, as per the Gregorian calendar, the celebrations of Eid Al Adha will start from June 27, till July 2. So, the residents will enjoy a six-day-long break.
Hirji New Year
The next long break will fall during the Hijri New Year and will be of three days starting Friday, July 21. As the Islamic New Year will fall on Friday, employees will enjoy a three-day break.
Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday
The break during the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be the fourth and last long break and will be on Friday, September 29, 2023. The employees will get another three-day weekend.
So, the residents of the UAE are set to have three more long weekends this year.
Meanwhile, the holidays for UAE National Day which is celebrated on December 2 and 3 will be over the weekend.
