Mashable :Malayalis in the UAE ring in to celeberate Onam

As Keralites all over the world celebrated the festival Onam, an annual traditional harvest festival, the United Arab Emirates also saw its expatriates ring in the festivities.

On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, the residents of the United Arab Emirates celebrated Onam, a ten-day-long harvest festival by putting on a colourful pookalam which is a flower carpet, wearing the finest traditional clothes of kasavu mundu and sarees, and indulging in Onam Sadhya, a traditional feast.

Now, a video of the Indian state of Kerala’s mythical king Maveli swinging on the Dubai Frame is going viral.

As per Khaleej Times, the beloved mythological king Maveli of the southern Indian state of Kerala was featured in one of Dubai’s famous landmarks.

A UAE-based media company, Passio Communications shared a video of the mythological king taking a swing on the Dubai frame.

The video quickly went viral, transcending boundaries and love in the Emirates.

As Malayalis across the country celebrate Onam, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum also wished his followers a “Happy Onam” on his Instagram account.

Sheikh Hamdan, who is also the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai shared a picture of the traditional Onam Sadhya on his Instagram stories.

Onasadhya or Onam Sadhya is a traditional homemade feast made of rice which is served with at least 10-15 different vegetarian curries. The traditional feast is also eaten in a certain chronological order.

Sheikh Hamdan showed off the sumptuous meal which consisted of no less than 27 food items.
