The UAE has announced a four-day holiday for public and private sector employees to mark the National Day celebrations, now officially referred to as Eid Al Etihad. Get ready to celebrate as December 1 and 2 (Monday and Tuesday) have been declared paid holidays.
The work will resume on December 3 (Wednesday). By combining these paid holidays with the preceding weekend, employees will enjoy a four-day long weekend. Under a Cabinet resolution effective January 1, 2025, some UAE public holidays can be moved to the start or end of the week if they fall on weekdays. While Eid Al Etihad was originally scheduled for December 2 and 3, this year the holidays have been shifted.
The resolution, however, excludes Eid holidays and requires a separate Cabinet decision to take effect. What is a National Day?
