Mashable: The UAE achieves a remarkable milestone in the field of gender balance

The United Arab Emirates has achieved a remarkable feat in the field of gender balance.

The Emirates has ranked 1st regionally and 7th globally in the Gender Balance Index 2024, which is issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

This remarkable milestone sees the UAE rising significantly from 49th place in 2015 as well as 11th place in 2022.

According to the Khaleej Times, during the meetings of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced this new global achievement of the UAE. The upcoming session is set to be held until March 22, 2024, in New York, US, with the UAE Gender Balance Council also participating in the event.

On March 14, 2024, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, praised his daughter Sheikha Manal Bint Mohammad for leading the UAE Gender Balance initiative.

Expressing his admiration on X/ Twitter, the UAE leader also recognises the collective effort and the dedication of the team involved in the global project.

“I am proud of my daughter, Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed... and her successful leadership of this national project... a distinguished team... and a distinguished achievement,” the Dubai ruler wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Sheikha Manal is also chairperson of the Dubai Women Establishment. She also took to social media to extend her congratulations to the Emirates’ wise leadership, and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
