Mashable: Authorities have issued safety measures
Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have issued an alert following unstable weather conditions that are predicted over the next few days.
UAE is expected to experience rainfall of different intensities over the next few days. Thunder and lightning are also expected in some areas of the nation.
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023, UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) issued a weather alert. The authority has urged residents and motorists to adhere to guidelines.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) via Twitter recently assured the public that they are fully prepared for emergencies that may occur during this period.
Residents have also been warned against sharing misleading news and rumours about weather conditions.
As per Khaleej Times, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has said that unstable weather conditions could be expected over the next two days. Cloudy conditions will prevail and rainfall of different intensities with thunder and lightning at times over some areas of the country is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday.
Cloudy conditions will prevail on Friday. Temperatures will also dip significantly and winds with speeds of up to 60kmph will kick up dust.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and Ministry of Interior (MoI) have listed a number of safety tips and guidelines to be followed by motorists and residents:
Listen to weather bulletins from official sources
Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.
Check the vehicle and validity of lights, windshields, tires
Turn on low-beam headlights when visibility is reduced
Avoid speeding
Drive calmly and carefully
Make sure to stay away from floodplains, valleys, and watershed
