Twitter users in the UAE on Tuesday were confronted with a bright blue screen and a message reading: Something is technically wrong.
The social media platform stopped working at 5.50pm (2.50pm GMT) before coming back online eight minutes later.
It is not yet clear what exactly went wrong, but it went offline for users around the world.
Over 6,500 users had complained about the disruption, according to Down Detector, a site that picks up on these sorts of fails.
Twitter responded to complaints once the service was restored:
The system was back online for UAE users as of 6.36pm (2.36pm GMT).
