Uber revives the shared rides feature with a brand new name.
Uber reintroduces shared rides with a new name, UberX Share. Previously known as Uber Pool, this new feature will be available first in Miami.
Uber removed the shared rides option due to the heavy surge of COVID cases in March 2020. Recently, Uber claimed that it’s going to bring back this convenient feature.
As the majority of people are vaccinated and the situation is getting normal, Uber prices have gone way up. Hence, the company wants to offer cheap rides to customers that will result in making Uber the best carpooling option.
The new UberX Share feature offers a 5% off on the ride cost than the regular ride. But, it’s still less than the Uber Pool which offered almost 50% off on the ride cost compared to the private ride. Additionally, the customer will receive Uber Cash, if the other person is picked up during the ride.
In UberX Shared rides, customers will ride only with one person excluding the driver. Though people are vaccinated, everyone must wear a mask during the trip.
There isn’t any confirmation regarding the expansion of this feature as Uber said that they don’t have any future expansion plans.
Similarly, Uber’s rival Lyft also revamped the shared rides in July after removing this feature in March 2020. Just like the UberX Share, only two persons can ride excluding the drive and everyone must wear a mask.
