Inviting GCC Athletes to Experience a New Regional Endurance Challenge
Visit Qatar has announced that the inaugural edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Doha will take place from March 18 to 20, 2027 at Old Doha Port, inviting endurance athletes and sports enthusiasts from across the GCC and beyond to take part in one of the world’s most recognised racing series for the first time in Qatar.
Organised in collaboration with the IRONMAN Group, one of the world’s leading organisers of endurance events, the championship will bring together elite athletes, endurance enthusiasts from across the region, and amateur competitors for a world-class racing experience set against the backdrop of Doha’s waterfront. The event is expected to attract participants and visitors from across the GCC and international markets, further strengthening Qatar’s position as a leading destination for major sporting events and active lifestyle experiences.
The main race, scheduled for March 20, 2027, will feature the globally recognised IRONMAN 70.3 format, comprising a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km cycling course, and a 21.1 km run. The event programme will also include the IRONKIDS race on March 19, offering younger participants the opportunity to take part in the excitement of race weekend.
With its convenient connectivity across the GCC, modern infrastructure, and wide range of hospitality and leisure offerings, Qatar is ideally positioned to welcome athletes and supporters travelling to take part in the inaugural edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Doha. Alongside the races, visitors will be able to enjoy a lively event atmosphere featuring dedicated fan zones, the interactive IRONMAN Village, and a range of community and entertainment experiences throughout the championship weekend.
