CALIFORNIA (Web Desk) - WhatsApp has launched a new feature that allows users to mention others in their stories or status updates.
According to the company, users can now tag close friends in their stories, and the mentioned person will have the option to re-share that story.
Additionally, WhatsApp has introduced a like feature for stories and statuses.
Previously, users could only see the number of views on a story, but now they can like it, similar to liking a Facebook post.
Importantly, the likes and reactions to a story will remain private; only the person sharing the story will be able to see who liked it.
Whenever a user mentions someone in a story or status, WhatsApp will send a notification to the mentioned individual, informing them that they have been tagged, and they will also be able to re-share the story.
Furthermore, no third party will be able to see who has been mentioned in a story or status. Although WhatsApp has announced the rollout of this feature, it may not be immediately available to all users.
Access will be provided to everyone shortly.
WhatsApp also mentioned that in the coming months, more features will be added to the status and updates tab to help users stay connected with important people in their lives.
