The messaging platforming is leaving no stone unturned in making the user experience safe and secure.

One of the most popular and widely used messaging platforms, WhatsApp, is all set to turn more secure with the new privacy update, which will be rolling out soon. According to a WABetaInfo report, the Meta-owned platform will now be able to hide your 'last seen' from strangers (ones who aren't on your contact list).

While WhatsApp currently sets the default 'last seen' option to 'Everyone', the new update would limit the audience to only your contact list. Given the platform's appetite to explore and keep introducing new features to provide end-to-end encryption, the new update would only make things more secure for both iOS and Android users.

Despite the availability of the 'My Contacts' option in the settings, the platform used to set 'last seen' to 'Everyone' as a default mode, but it's now being updated with the 'My Contacts' alternative, making the platform more secure. In addition to adding another layer of security and saving you from being exposed to strangers, the new default setting would also prevent other third-party applications from seeing your online status.

Surprisingly, WhatsApp includes a 'Nobody' option as well where no one (including your contacts) can see your last seen. According to a previous report, the messaging platform has also been working on another option that would allow users to select and block a specific contact from viewing their last seen.
