Mashable: With the coming updates, your View Once messages will be protected from taking screenshots, and you can pick who can view them while you're online.
WhatsApp introduced a new "View Once" function that enabled the sharing of vanishing media on chats in August of last year. It didn't have screenshot protection upon launch, so receivers could save disappearing content to their phones by capturing a quick screenshot. As a result, the function was rendered useless. Fortunately, WhatsApp is already working on implementing screenshot blocking for View Once messages in order to address this major privacy concern.
New privacy enhancements for WhatsApp were just unveiled by Mark Zuckerberg. With the coming updates, your View Once messages will be protected from taking screenshots, and you can pick who can view them while you're online.
To put it another way, the ability to restrict screenshots for View Once messages is finally making the function useful. It is presently being tested and will be made available to everyone in the near future. This feature has been in development for a while now, and WhatsApp has confirmed it. Zuckerberg has now verified that the feature is being developed and that it has been discovered in a test version. Users will apparently be able to utilize the new function later this month, according to reports.
A less unpleasant way to leave groups is also on the way for WhatsApp users who want to do so without alerting the rest of the group. Group administrators will still be alerted if a member decides to quit the group. This modification will be made available to users at the end of the month, along with the ability to make your online status more visible.
As part of its "continuing commitment to preserving users' private chats," WhatsApp has also launched a new campaign to educate users about the app's new privacy features.
