Zee Media Corporation’s English news channel World Is One News (WION) has launched on Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates, among other countries in the GCC. Viewers can also watch WION on Du and Ooredoo.

The Middle East expansion follows the earlier launch of the channel in seven African countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Botswana and Rwanda. WION that was launched initially at the end of 2016, aims to provide a global view of the world with a South Asian lens.

At the 25-year celebrations for ZEE in Dubai, Subhash Chandra, Chairman of Essel Group that owns Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) had said: “After a successful start in India, WION is gearing up to bring world-class journalism to the people of UAE  who have long been waiting for a global network from India.”

The channel is also available in Australia on over the top (OTT) platform YuppTV. Talks are reportedly underway to launch it on other platforms in Australia and New Zealand.
