WPP creative agency Berlin Cameron has named Karen Flanagan its new managing director.
Flanagan previously worked for ProSieben-owned Studio 71, a creator-focused media outlet as its executive vice president. She has held roles within the WPP network in the past, as well as at Publicis, for a list of clients that has included Heineken, Adobe, L’Oreal, Citibank, and Sony, among others.
In this new post, the agency has assigned her to be the primary point of contact for senior clients across the agency, and serve as the executive lead for Berlin Cameron’s flagship client, Capital One.
Flanagan has to report to Jennifer DaSilva, Berlin Cameron’s president. DaSilva said to The Drum: “Karen has an impressive history of driving successful business for some of the world’s most-loved brands, and we are so excited to welcome her to our team. Her leadership will be key as we grow our business on all fronts.”
Flanagan added: “I am thrilled to join such a dynamic agency that puts culture first. Berlin Cameron works with exceptional clients, and it’s been a pleasure to jump into an organization that not only produces exciting creative work, but also champions women in business.”
This most recent hire by the WPP agency comes after what it calls a "significant year of growth." Earlier this year, the agency opened up two divisions: Girl Brands Do It Better and BCXP. Girl Brands Do It Better serves as a specialist group that has aimed to empower female entrepreneurs and works with Chromat, Gravitas, Underclub, The Other Festival, and others. Meanwhile, BCXP is an experiential arm that has worked with a roster that includes National Geographic, truTV, Hulu, and Capital One.
