The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) is the largest organisation of journalists in Europe, representing over 320,000 journalists in 71 journalists’ organisations across 43 countries. The EFJ was created in 1994 within the framework of the IFJ Constitution to represent the interests of journalists’ unions and associations and their journalists. It has established an independent legal status as an international non-profit association (AISBL, association internationale sans but lucratif) since February 2013 according to the Belgian law. La Fédération européenne des journalistes (FEJ) est la plus importante organisation de journalistes en Europe. Elle représente plus de 320.000 journalistes à travers 61 syndicats et associations dans 40 pays.

The EFJ was created in 1994 as part of the constitution of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) to represent the interests of trade unions and journalists' associations in Europe. Since February 2013, it has acquired an autonomous legal status to become an international non-profit association in accordance with Belgian law.
