https://emiratitimes.com/ :California: Apple smart glasses are expected to include health tracking features as part of future wearable device development.
Apple Inc. (Apple) has been exploring ways to integrate health and fitness tracking into upcoming smart glasses and augmented reality headsets. The move expands the company’s presence in the wearable technology segment.
Apple launched the Apple Vision Pro in 2023, marking the company’s entry into mixed reality. Early plans included adding health and fitness tracking capabilities to the headset. These features were later removed due to technical limitations and the device’s weight.
The company also explores creating a version of Apple Fitness+ for the Vision Pro. The concept allows users to wear the headset during workouts. The system could track body movements and measure fitness performance through advanced sensors.
Reports indicate that smart glasses under development will include a range of sensors. These sensors are expected to capture user movement and health-related data with improved accuracy.
The first generation of Apple smart glasses may not include these capabilities. The company is expected to introduce such features in later versions. Apple continues to study how to integrate advanced tracking into a smaller and lighter form factor.
The development aligns with Apple’s broader ecosystem strategy. Existing devices such as AirPods now include hearing-related features. Apple Watch models already offer advanced health tracking tools. Future smart glasses could complement these devices and expand functionality.
Apple also adjusts its product timeline, delaying the launch of smart glasses to the first half of 2027. The company is expected to introduce the device during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2027. This timeline allows developers to prepare applications and optimize performance for the new platform.
