Alongside beaches, water activities and water parks, indoor destinations play an important role in Dubai’s summer tourism offering.
Asma Al Hosani, Director of Operations at The Green Planet, part of the Dubai Holding Entertainment portfolio, stated that the attraction allows visitors to experience a living tropical rainforest in the heart of Dubai. It is home to more than 3,000 plants and animals, with visitors able to experience tropical rain and explore four distinct rainforest levels.
The attraction also offers experiences including Camping in the Rainforest and Zookeeper for a Day, giving visitors different ways to interact with nature. The Green Planet is also a Certified Autism Centre and participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, supporting greater accessibility for visitors.
Meanwhile, Dubai Butterfly Garden receives between 200 and 300 visitors on summer weekdays, rising to around 500 visitors on weekends. During winter, attendance increases to between 500 and 800 visitors on weekdays and up to 1,000 on weekends. The attraction welcomes an average of 100,000 to 150,000 visitors annually.
The garden is home to between 5,000 and 10,000 butterflies each month, depending on the season and availability. It also works with schools and hosts weekly educational trips, allowing students to learn about butterfly species, their life cycles and natural habitats while encouraging awareness of biodiversity conservation.
Since opening in March 2015, Dubai Butterfly Garden has provided educational and recreational experiences for visitors of different ages in an environment designed to closely replicate butterflies’ natural habitats.
Together with The Green Planet, the attraction contributes to Dubai’s diverse summer tourism offering by giving families and tourists nature-focused indoor experiences away from the high outdoor temperatures.
