Mashable: Messi scored his 11th goal in Argentina vs Croatia
Lionel Messi-led Argentina has advanced into the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar finals.
Lionel Messi has made yet another record by becoming Argentina's highest goal scorer in the history of the global tournament.
Messi scored the goal in the first half of the World Cup semi-final between Argentina and Croatia which was played at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on December 13, 2022.
Argentina’s captain scored from the penalty spot in the 34th minute of the semi-final match and gave Argentina a 1-0 lead against Croatia. Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez netted two for the famous 3-0 win for Argentina in the semi-finals

With this goal, the seven-time Ballon D'or winner has become Argentina's all-time highest goal-scorer in the history of the World Cup. This was the 35-year-old footballer's 11th goal in the history of the global tournament.
Messi has played for his national team in 25 games of the FIFA World Cup. Argentina’s captain broke Gabriel Batistura’s record of 10 goals and is now the top goal scorer for his country in the history of the tournament.
However, Messi is now tied with Hungarian footballer Sandor Kocsis and German footballer Jurgen Klinsmann with 11 goals.
Messi has now scored a total of five goals in the 2022 edition of the World Cup and has tied alongside French footballer Kylian Mbappe for the Golden Boot which is awarded to the highest goalscorer of a particular FIFA World Cup tournament.

Now, the South American giants will meet either France or Morocco in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final which is scheduled for Sunday, December 18, 2022.
