Mashable: ChatGPT, on Wednesday, experienced a massive outage which stopped users from accessing its services. The issue was first reported around 10:55 AM Dubai Time and peaked shortly after at 10:56 PM Dubai Time, according to outage tracking platform Downdetector.
At its peak, over 500 users flagged problems with ChatGPT, with nearly 82 percent of them reporting trouble accessing the chatbot across both web and mobile platforms. Around 15 percent of complaints were related to the website itself. The outage appears to be global, affecting users in multiple regions. OpenAI acknowledged the issue on its official status page, calling it a “partial outage.” The company stated, “We’re currently experiencing issues.
ChatGPT not displaying responses. We are investigating the issue for the listed services.” However, no specific reason has been shared for the disruption so far. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time ChatGPT has faced downtime this week. Downdetector also recorded a larger outage on Tuesday at 12:40 PM Dubai Time, when over 2,200 users reported similar issues.
While the number of complaints has dropped since then, the platform continues to show ongoing problems. The OpenAI status page at 13:53 PM Dubai Time confirmed that the issue was entirely resolved. Given ChatGPT has been frequently facing these outage issues, users have started exploring more reliable alternatives such as Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.
