Oman will celebrate its 55th National Day with a two-day official holiday for employees in both private and public sectors. Yes, get ready for a long weekend!
The Gulf nation's official news agency announced that, following an order from Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, workers will have Wednesday, November 26, and Thursday, November 27, off. As many already know, Oman has adopted the Friday-Saturday weekend, which makes National Day holidays a four-day-long celebration. On that note, work across all sectors will resume on November 30. Oman celebrates its National Day on November 20 and 21 every year, commemorating the country's independence and the birthday of its late Sultan Qaboos.
However, there's a change in plan this year. Why is National Day important? A National Day is a special day when a country celebrates its history and what makes it unique. It often marks important events, like gaining independence for the country or the birthday of a leader.
Like I mentioned above, Oman celebrates its National Day to honor the birthday of Sultan Qaboos, who helped modernize the country and improve the living conditions of his people. In short, a National Day is a day to remember a country's past and celebrate its identity and achievements. How is National Day celebrated? People celebrate with parades, music, dancing, and by displaying the national flag.
Given that it's a public holiday, people can spend time with their families.
